You can’t fix stupid–anti-vaxxer chicken pox edition

You can’t fix stupid, unfortunately. I wish you could.

Chicken pox parties have always baffled me. I had chicken pox as a kid, before a vaccine was available, as did my sister. I was lucky…I only got a mild case but my sister had it much worse than me. She had chicken pox in places I don’t even want to imagine anyone ever having chicken pox. And it was awful. Plus, now I’m at risk for shingles, since the varicella virus doesn’t just poof and disappear once you’re done having chicken pox. It hides out like a ninja, just waiting to strike at any moment.

So when I read this post on Reddit’s /r/parenting forum, I mentally V-8 slapped my forehead. I thought, “Seriously? I hope this person is a troll, because what the ever loving heck?”.

Where do people come up with this stuff?

  1. OMGaaawd! Do you know what’s sad about that? Even if this IS a joke, I am absolutely sure that there is at least one couple really excited about getting the kids chicken pox somewhere out there.
